Cross country Extra Early Bird pass sale on now

At the regular Council meeting held on August 17, Council gave first, second, and third readings to Parks and Recreation Fees and Charges Amendment Bylaw No. 2243, 2021.

Once adopted, the proposed amendment would lower fees for youth and child season passes for Lost Lake Nordic Trails for the next three winter seasons. The proposed $60 season pass rate would provide youth and children with unlimited access to the cross country trail network at a rate similar to the 2020/21 Extra Early Bird child cross country night pass rate.

The lower pass rate would provide greater flexibility for family purchase options.

“Everyone should have equitable access to sport,” said Mayor Jack Crompton. “Increased opportunities for recreating and connection to nature directly influences our overall community health and wellbeing. The proposed bylaw aims to improve accessibility and affordability for youth, children and families using this facility.”

The final reading of the bylaw is anticipated to return to Council on September 7.
