The Conservation Officer Service (COS) has received reports of a young bear entering patio doors and open garages and being very persistent and determined in the Cheakamus Crossing area.

Although we are experiencing warm weather, please ensure windows and doors are secure so wildlife cannot enter properties. For sliding windows, consider blocking them inside from being opened further than approximately 15cms, as bears can get through spaces the size of their heads. Close and lock windows and doors on the ground floor when you are not home. 

Residents must ensure all BBQs are cleaned properly after use or locked away.
