The Olympic Rings and the Paralympic Agitos are symbols of the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee respectively. As Host Mountain Resort for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, Whistler was permitted to use these symbols. For the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the municipality had each of the symbols fabricated and displayed at this, the former site of the Victory Ceremonies.
Whistler Medals Plaza was where the global community recognizes the world’s best. Nightly Victory Ceremonies celebrated athletic talent, dedication and teamwork followed by spectacular music and dazzling performances. Here, Whistler hosts the Paralympic Closing Ceremony – the grand finale of the 2010 Winter Games – which wrapped Whistler in celebration.
Both symbols have been very popular and are constantly featured in the photographs taken by visitors to Whistler.
