Whistler Victim Services is a police-based referral program that provides support to victims of crime and trauma in Whistler. Our staff assist clients impacted by a wide range of incidents including:
- intimate partner violence
- sexual assault
- fraud
- suicide
- sudden death
- violent assaults
- criminal harassment
After a crime has been committed, Whistler Victim Services staff assist by helping clients understand their victim rights as they navigate the criminal justice system.
We Provide:
- crisis support
- Information regarding status of the police investigation
- general information about the criminal justice system
- case-specific court updates
Referrals for:
- counselling services
- community agencies
- other police or victim services agencies
- crime prevention programs
- agencies for legal assistance with civil matters
Practical Assistance
- safety planning
- liaising with Police and Crown Counsel
- court orientation and accompaniment
- assistance with the completion of Victim Impact Statements
- assistance with the completion of Crime Victim Assistance Program applications
